You realize you still have time to bake the cake and decorate it, so you decide to go back to sleep.
When you wake up again, it is noon and you still haven’t gone to the store like you had planned to.
Once you finish getting ready, you get into your car.
Do you go to the [[bakery|Late Bakery]]?
Or
Do you go to the [[store|Late store]]?You decided to fight the urge of sleep and get ready to get up instead.
Once you've done getting dressed, you get into your car and debate whether to get a premade cake or do one from scratch?
Do you go to the [[bakery|Bakery]] to get a premade cake?
Or
Do you go to the [[store|Store]] to get the ingredients? You wake up from a long sleep on a Saturday, sitting up in your bed. You look over at the clock which blinks 10:00 back at you. Your tired state says you should go to sleep before you check your phone and see the date.
Oh no!
Your partner’s birthday party is today at 4pm and you told them that you would bake the cake for it! You also realize that you have to still buy the ingredients, insisting to your partner that you would get the freshest ingredients. The sleepy part of your mind still says to go to bed.
Do you [[go back to bed|Bed]]?
Do you [[get up and get ready to go|Ready]]?You decide to keep your partner's promise and go to the store to make the homemade cake. You drive to the store and pick out the necessary ingredients to make the cake.
---
Once at home, you start to make the cake and put it in the [[oven|Late oven]].You decide to go to the bakery realizing surely your partner won't mind you bought the cake instead of making it from scratch especially when they realize you woke up late.
Once you get to the bakery, you start looking at all of the pretty pre-made cakes they have on display. A certain cake catches your eye and you ask the bakery worker to grab it out of the case for you.
You [[pay for it|Still have time]] and leave the bakery. You decided to go to the bakery and take a look at the different cakes you can choose from. You pick out a cake you know your partner would like.
Once you leave the bakery you realize you have [[spare time|Still have time]].You decide to drive to the store like originally intended, deciding to make the cake.
When you get to the store, you are debating on the different options of cake you have.
You decide you are going to make it [[from scratch|From Scratch]].Once you leave the bakery, you realize you still have time to go do whatever you want to do.
While you wait for the party to start, what do you want to do?
Do you [[get a gift for your partner|How sweet]]?
Do you [[go home and play video games|Dog house]]?
You do the responsible partner thing and get your partner a gift.
Once you get home, you wrap the gift and go to the party.
At the party, you set your gift down and head over to your partner who is busy talking to their friends.
When it comes time to sing happy birthday and cut the cake, your partner stares down at the cake box before looking up at you in disappointment which shows which bakery it came from.
Shoot! You should have taken it out of the box!
Do you tell them it is [[homemade|Liar]]?
Do you fess up and tell them you [[bought it|Better]]?You decide to go home and play video games, knowing you have nothing else you need to do. The party is at 4pm and it is currently 2pm.
---
When you get home, you start playing and don't realize time passes by quickly. So engrossed into your game, you look at the time.
[[5:00pm]]"I didn't have a box to transport the cake, so I asked them if I could use one of their boxes," you explained to your partner. "I promise I made it."
Your partner stares at you for a second too long before they go back to entertaining their guests. Their mood becomes a bit better when they realize you got them a gift, so maybe that helped smooth things over a bit.
---
It weighs on your conscience, so a week after the party, while lying with your partner, you tell them the cake was store-bought. You tell them you didn't make it homemade like you had promised.
They look upset at your confession, but quickly hide it. "Why weren't you just honest?"
You shrug, but they don't seem ***that*** angry at you.
Next time, you shouldn't lie to your partner. You decide to pull your partner to the side after they blow out the candles and serve the cake, telling them that you didn't actually bake their cake because you woke up late. Your partner looks upset for a little bit before they thank you for your honesty. Your partner then gives you a kiss on the cheek and thanks you for still thinking of them, especially with the present you got them.Your eyes widen as you realize you're late. Getting up, you quickly get into your car.
---
When you get to your partner's house, your partner quickly finds you from across the room and gives you the biggest disapproving look.
What should you do?
[[Try to make up]].
[[Act like nothing happened]].
Deciding to patch things up, you head over to your partner and give them a kiss, telling them happy birthday. Your partner's frown quickly turns into a smile as they realize even though you were late, you still care.
When it comes to cutting the cake, your partner notices the cake box, but doesn't look mad about it.
Even though you did mess up, you realize your partner doesn't care and still loves you. You act like nothing happened and your partner seems to get angrier as the day progresses. Your partner ignores you the rest of the day until you're leaving. You try to give your partner a kiss on the cheek, but your partner dodges your sign of affection.
When it comes to cutting the cake, your partner notices the cake box that is distinctly from a bakery. Your partner looks even more mad. You really did mess up.
"Good night." Your partner says to you, opening up the front door as a sign for you to leave.Once the cake is done out of the oven, the time is about 3:00pm and the party is at 4pm. You have to decorate the cake still, but you have to wait for the cake to cool.
Do you [[decorate|Hot decorate]] while it is still hot?
Or
Do you [[wait|Pretty decoration]] and make yourself late? You decide it won't be too bad if you decorate the cake while it is still hot.
As you are putting the frosting on, you realize it is starting to melt and slide off your cake. Maybe you should have let it cool down.
You continue on and decorate the cake still as you don't want to be [[late|Melted]].You decide to let the cake cool down, knowing that you might be a little late. You know your partner will be happier with a pretty cake and you being late, than having a melted cake and being on time.
You put the cake inside of the fridge to cool down for about 30 minutes before decorating it. By the time you finish decorating the cake, it is about 4:00. This makes you rush to the party and you get there about 4:21.
Your partner goes over to you and smiles, seeing the homemade cake, and gives you a kiss on the cheek. They also grab your arm and usher you into where you can place the cake down.
They look extremely happy with you and are affectionate with you the rest of the night.Once you are finished decorating the cake with the frosting melted off, you rush to the party and make it there on time.
Your partner immediately notices the melted cake in your hands and gets extremely upset.
They start crying, telling you that you ruined their party. You decide you want to make it difficult for yourself by making the cake from scratch. You buy all the necessary ingredients and drive home.
---
When you get home, you decide that you [[mix all the dry ingredients first|Correct way]].You decide to mix all of your dry ingredients first into the bowl before mixing everything together. You put your cake into the oven and let it bake.
---
Once you are done baking the cake, you can either [[let it cool down|Cooled down and nice]] or [[start decorating|Melting]].You wait for the cake to finish cooling down before you decorate it.
You can take your time decorating the cake as it is now about 2:00 and you still have plenty of time.
You finish decorating the cake and wait until it is time for the [[party|Best end]].You are an impatient person and start to decorate the cake without waiting for it to fully cool down. As you place your frosting down, it starts melting and sliding down your cake.
Do you want to [[start over|Wipe it off]] and wait for it to cool down?
Or
Do you want to [[keep going|Stubborn]] and finish decorating the cake? You decide to wipe off the melting icing and wait for the cake to fully finish cooling down.
---
After the cake finishes cooling down, you once again try to decorate the cake which turns out to be a [[huge success|Best end]].Despite the frosting continually melting off the hot cake, you decide to continue decorating the cake. Eventually, you run out of frosting and made a sticky mess on your counter.
Uh oh.
---
Should you try and [[save it|No hope]]?
Or show up to the party [[empty handed|Empty handed]]?You show up on time with a beautifully handmade cake as you place it on the table where it is supposed to be.
Your partner walks up to you and smiles as they realize you fulfilled your promise of making a cake from scratch.
"Thank you so much, my love. It shows you *really* care for me," they tell you with a huge smile on their face.
It makes you so happy that you were able to bring such a lovely smile onto their face.
---
You enjoy the rest of your night with your partner. You try to save the mess and end up mildly successful. The cake still looks horrible, but hey, it has frosting on it... right?
You show up to the party later with the sad excuse of a cake, setting it down on the table where it is supposed to go.
Your partner notices you when you come in and walks up to you, stopping as they notice the cake. They frown but they don't want to make a scene in front of all of their guests. You can tell they are extremely upset at the low effort you made. You decide to give up on the cake and just show up to the party empty-handed.
Your partner notices that you don't have the cake in your hand, looking at you in conclusion.
"My love, where's the cake?" They asked.
"I messed it up." You admitted, "So I didn't bring it."
"Okaaayyy," they start, "I don't have a cake now."
They are extremely upset with you, since you didn't fulfill your promise of getting their cake.
